No matter which season you choose to exchange vows, whether your heart’s desire is to be a blushing spring bride, sultry summer diva, autumn angel or snow-white winter belle, a graceful strapless gown hits the mark as the favorite frock among modern brides.
“The most popular style in bridal gowns remains the strapless,” says Bobbie Ziffren, who owns both a formalwear shop and bridal boutique. “Gowns that have corseted, lace-up backs are very popular because they fit brides beautifully.”
According to Ziffren, satin is the most popular fabric for bridal gowns. However, other fabrics such as tulle are often used as well, depending on the style of dress desired.
With bridal companies continuing to offer exciting infusions of color for the latest wedding gown creations, traditional white has been joined by a rainbow of rich, lustrous shades. Another new look features a white or ivory gown trimmed with deep hues of claret, black or lavender.
When it comes time to choose just the right gown for you, here’s a look at some of the strapless styles what you’ll find at the bridal shop:
-- Regal majesty describes Maggie Sottero’s gown called Royal Romance. The two-piece gown features a corseted bodice with a wide back-tie. The bodice features an elegant scrolled design and is gather to the side and finished with clear beading. The skirt is a full-circle A-line that falls into a full chapel train. It is embellished with scrolling and beaded flowers that climb upward on the back of the skirt. The gown comes in all white, white with pewter scrolling, diamond white with pewter scrolling and light gold with light gold scrolling. There is also a matching purse and shawl.
-- Crisp white makes a beautiful backdrop for a spring bouquet of soft pink, green, blue, yellow and lavender embroidered flowers featured on DaVinci’s two-piece gown. The flowing organza gown is adorned with beading on the bodice as well as encircling the hem. The cathedral train flows gently and gracefully for a wedding-day look that is refreshing.
-- Deep, rich, vivid red, the color of true love, accents Mori Lee’s glamorous satin gown. Available in solid white, white with black trim, champagne with pearl trim or ivory with claret trim, the gown features a sweetheart neckline with beaded trim and a sparkling silver motif at the bust line. English embroidery accents the bodice, embellishes the front of the skirt and flows to the back of the train. The princess-style dress has a chapel train that is finished with covered buttons and a band of trim at the hemline.
